We got the chance to nab a few minutes with the female pop duo SIIGHTS on todays edition of Chatterbox, read on below to see what we had a natter about.
Hey, thanks for talking to us. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?
Hey, thanks for having us – hmm what people might not know would be that we are very hands on with all aspects of our project from songwriting, production , instrumentation to artwork & even directing & producing some of our own music videos. We’re involved in all elements of our own project but we also write songs for other artists too & thats a big passion of ours.
Sweet, good to know and thanks for sharing! What would you say are influences that have gone into your sound recently?
We’re really influenced by what we’re going through in life and our past experiences, I guess we pull on that for songwriting a lot. In terms of production and sound, we definitely take influence from our backgrounds, being Irish & Scottish we have huge folk influence there. Theres a lot of Funk & Soul influences in there too. Mia also is a drummer and has been influenced a lot by different styles or percussion, she’s into a lot of groove based stuff.
What are you currently working on?
Before this whole lockdown situation kicked off we were actually in Iceland starting the production process for our follow up EP which we’re really excited about, we’re also working on some cool collaborations tracks so we’ve been super busy.
What are your plans for this year, has the current state of things affected those?
Our plans have definitely been changed a lot but we’re keeping positive, right now whilst playing live is on hold we’ve decided to put our heads down in the studio & finish the second EP. Lots of collaborating too which keeps things interesting for us from a writing perspective.
Once the ban is lifted we are much looking forward to traveling again & hopefully playing live again sooner rather than later!
You and me both! Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?
Some key things we have found to help keep yourself functioning in these times would be…Stick within a healthy routine as best you can, make sure you’re doing some kind of exercise daily, don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t feel you are being as efficient as normal. It is completely understandable to have ups & downs during a time like this and to be ok with that is key, don’t forget that we are literally all in this together so you really are not alone. Reach out to your loved ones, make an effort to eat healthy, If you can take up a new hobby & remember this is not going to last forever.
Thanks so much for chatting to us, best of luck with the new EP!
