Los Angeles’ Duckwrth rallies against constraints on ‘Nobody Falls’, taken from his new EP ‘The Falling Man’; it features guest spots from Terrace Martin, Kiana Ledé and Medasin. It charts Duckwrth’s unwillingness to be held back by the trappings of daily life, even where love is concerned. It’s a truly expansive production, laid-back vocals are underpinned by a throbbing bass-line – sampled drums pepper the soundscape, providing rhythm to a searingly melodic high-end. A contemporary R&B summer anthem of the highest degree.
The new EP is a significant step forward sonically for the Angeleno, with a sumptuous blend of lush organic sounds and sampled, hip-hop flecked beat mapping. 2019 is going to Duckwrth’s year, big live dates with Anderson Paak and Rich Brian have launched him even higher; and when coupled with a spot on the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse it’s easy to see why his stock is rising.
