MKJ and The Beamish Boys drop the acoustic version of their recent single ‘Don’t Flatter Yourself’. It’s interesting to hear the uptempo alt-pop track stripped back to its bare bones; more space is allowed for the melodies which are well crafted around narrative driven lyrics.
“I co-write with other singer/songwriters who tell the story and I focus on production. I like to think that I am pretty good at production and that’s why I have made it my number one priority when it comes to my creative process!” – MKJ
“We had a run-in with a particularly unpleasant person in the music industry – who will of course remain nameless – and so writing this song was a very cathartic process for us. Nobody likes to be pushed around and too often artists are taken advantage of. ‘Don’t Flatter Yourself’ is kind of a unifying anthem for all creatives and artists who have ever felt mistreated.” – The Beamish Boys
