As Egzod’s sci-fi artwork for single ‘The Way Out’ suggests, this high-class EDM track is piece of imaginative escapism for fellow dreamers. This release comes at the peak of the French artist’s momentum that he’s built throughout the year with a series of genre-blending and instrument-bending tracks, namely ‘High On Life’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘This Feeling’.
Of the producer’s 2022 tracks, ‘The Way Out’ is the second the feature a guest artist and this time you’ll hear the adventurous and romantic pop voice of Bertie Scott. Those emphatic vocals are layered into Egzod’s complex composition to evoke that sense of “slipping away”. Such distinct characteristic as the deep bass, high-octane rises, life affirming drops, dynamic synths and pulsating beats sweep the listener up. It’s an incredibly intense track that doesn’t do anything simply for thrills; for Egzod every beat drop and sustained synth has its place in creating this fantasy soundscape.
“I’ve been finding a lot of inspiration in Hardwave in the past year as it is very cinematic but also combines both of my favorite influences: the melodic content from Trance and the heaviness of Trap. Bertie Scott sent over some toplines and “The Way Out” fitted perfectly on a track I was working on, both lyrically and melodically. ‘The Way Out’ is inspired by the feeling of something slipping away. A relationship you’re trying to hold on to, but there’s nothing you can do as it’s falling out of your grasp. You want to talk about it, try and fix what you can and pull it back, but sometimes that can be the hardest thing to do and there’s never the right time before it’s too late.”
