DAWG puts his producer paws on David Guetta’s ‘Memories’ ft. KiD CuDi.

Hip-hop, more so than other genres, is full of giants; think of people like Jay-Z, 50-Cent, OutKast and of course, the Notorious B.I.G . They’re all global names who’ve sold millions of records, set trends, sold out shows and bagged a whole host of music awards.

Yet, in amongst all the noise, there remains a small section of unsung heroes in the industry. The undercover superstars who create the very foundations upon which your favourite songs stand, be they hip-hop, rap, trap or drill.

We’re of course talking about producers, and in this particular case, none other than hip-hop producer and DJ, DAWG. Having worked with the likes of Mac Dre, Scott Storch, Usher and Ludacris, DAWG has got a pretty serious CV under his belt but the work hasn’t stopped yet.

DAWG’s latest drop is a ‘grown up’ remix of David Guetta x KiD CuDi’s track, ‘Memories’. DAWG puts his paws on the song, completely overhauling the original from a fun and friendly EDM tune to a dark and sinister trap beat.

DAWG’s ‘Memories’ remix is a feast for the ears. The high energy flip sees DAWG sprinkle in a healthy handful of Travis Scott’s and Quavo’s iconic adlibs to punctuate the track over the song’s many layered sounds, resulting in a complex but highly intriguing dark-trap soundscape.

Kid Cudi – Memories ft. Travis Scott & Quavo (Dawg Remix)

After hearing the Scotts record I was inspired to flip a Cudi joint and put Travis adlibs over it. And since Memories was a dance record originally, it felt like a unique and dope song to redo with a hip hop vibe
