Asha Gold stuns in emotional, old Hollywood style video for ‘Oscar’

Making a return to the streaming charts in classic, old Hollywood glamour, London’s burgeoning R&B starlet, Asha Gold stuns in the emotional new music video for her latest single, ‘Oscar’.

Delivered in her distinctly British singing voice, Asha Gold’s ‘Oscar’ is a warm, old-school R&B inspired track with a punchy drum beat and subtle elements of electronic pop, a staple ingredient of Asha’s Gold’s shining discography.

Continuing her trend of playfully empowering pop-fused lyricism, ‘Oscar’ tells the all-too-familiar tale of a woman scorned by unfaithful partners who lie, cheat and manipulate their way through life with a concerning level of ease and indifference. In the video, Asha plays the role of an impressed, if not equally slighted, audience member watching the Oscar winning performance of a compulsive liar, most likely her cheating other half.

Colour graded to vintage perfection, the music video to ‘Oscar’ is the perfect visual accompaniment to Asha Gold’s must-hear new single. Having already proven herself as a gifted songwriter and talented vocalist by the strength of her past three singles, there’s no doubt that ‘Oscar’, with it’s classic R&B melodies and fresh pop production, will only add to Asha’s stories of success.

“I wrote this song a long time ago in my bedroom, deciding to tell the same story from three different perspectives – one verse for each character. The metaphor of cinema reflects the deception and pretence taking place: somebody here is so good at lying that they deserve an Oscar for their performance.”
