Violet Skies is a perennial favourite here at Purple Melon. So far, the British songstress has continued to impress us with each subsequent release – her new single ‘Island’ is no exception. Gorgeous songwriting is paired with a characterful vocal, the production is subtle letting Violet’s melody ring above the beat. The hook is effervescent and sticks with you without feeling cliché. ‘Island’ shows growth in Violet’s writing, the maturity is clear to see; I’m sure 2017 will be a landmark year for Violet.
Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Violet Skies, I’m from a little town in South Wales and I’m a singer and songwriter and part time professional egg poacher (I’m really good at poaching eggs).
Where did the new single come from?
From a lot of sadness actually. I wrote it to try and empathise with and comfort the person I loved through something. It ultimately didn’t work so the song actually became a comfort for me in the aftermath.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Yes. Lots. I’m scared/excited to share it
What’s on the horizon for you?
Some cool shows in LA and NY and hopefully a lot more seeing the world and writing – always writing
