Chatterbox: Handsome Ghost

The Brilliant Glow is the name of Handsome Ghost’s most recent EP; one that I fell in love with at first listen. Within that EP is one of my favourite tracks of 2016 – ‘Promises’. I had a chat with Tim, Handsome Ghost’s vocalist, to find out what’s to come in 2017 and the story behind ‘Promises’.

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

Well…I’m Tim. I sing and write in the band Handsome Ghost. We’re based out of Boston, Massachusetts for the time being and we’ve spent the last year plus touring in support of our two EPs. Beyond writing music, I like walking along bodies of water. I like drinking good coffee and also bad coffee. And I like watching the occasional sporting event.

Where did the new single come from?

Promises came about after all of our touring last year. I’m really, really bad at keeping in touch with the people I care about, even when I’m home, so the last year was bad. I let a lot of important relationships fade away. I realized, finally, that that’s no way to live and now I’m working towards building those friendships back up. It’s not easy. Promises is just my pledge to be a better person. To be reliable, for once.

What other content is in the pipeline?

We’re home now working on our first full length album. It’s been a challenging process, but at this moment I’m more confident than ever that we’re going to make something real. Through these years of writing and touring, I think we’ve been building towards this record and I truly believe that we’re ready to share something unique.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Right now it’s all about finishing this album, but we’ll be touring later this year I’m sure. I like being on the road, it feels right…so I’m looking forward to getting back out there when the time comes.
