Montreal based duo Beat Market have collaborated with French Horn Rebellion on their new single ‘Turn Your Colors On’. It’s the third single from their new album Sun Machine which dropped on November 11th. We had a chat with them to find out how the collaboration came about.

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

We first met up at university when both of us were studying jazz music. After playing with different bands on the Montreal scene we wanted to explore new horizons. We end up trying stuff with machines, loops and synthetizers. The work flow was pretty good with just the two of us, so we decided to start an electronic duo called Beat Market.

Where did the new single come from?

French Horn Rebellion came to see us perform in New York a couple years ago. They loved the show. We though this was a perfect match so they ended up collaborating on our last record Sun Machine.

We are really happy that “Turn My Colors On” was a good fit with Robert’s voice. He added that it was Michael Jackson’s spirit that made the song great.

What other content is in the pipeline?

We constantly write new stuff and mess around with new toys. There are some shows coming up in LA this January and we want to have a kick ass show to present so it helps to create fresh stuff. It’s a matter of always being excited when you go on stage you know.

The idea of playing in the U.S.A. is thrilling and we want to start going more and more.

We are currently working on some remixes and features that are hopefully gonna get out soon.

What’s on the horizon for you?

We want to spend our time to create a strong album, probably for 2018. Our goal is to tour around the globe as much as possible. Electronic scene here in Montreal is small compare to big cities like Berlin, London, New York and so on. The Quebec government promote French singing a lot which is not our direction.
