Purple Pop: The Wren, Nova Hall, Tali & Tyler Meacham

In the ancient world, purple was originally the colour reserved for the imperial families of Rome, Persia and Egypt and while it’s no longer elitist, there’s still something special to be had to the red-meets-blue hue. Our Purple Pop selection showcases the most luxurious, beautiful and unmissable pop music finds for our ears to yours.

First up on our radar is something truly special. The hauntingly beautiful, soft, folk-pop track ‘December’ by the intrinsically talented The Wren. With succulent songwriting, feather-light, ethereal vocals and a simple yet stunning acoustic backdrop, ‘December’ is sophisticated yet understated, containing layers of emotion just waiting to be uncovered. Soul-stirring, effortless and utterly captivating, The Wren is a hidden gem and our new favourite find!

Next up we have another absolute female powerhouse. The Swedish, singer-songwriter, producer and sound engineer Nova Hall is undoubtedly the full package. Revealing her latest single, the dark electro pop anthem ‘Little by Little’, she showcases pristine production, sublime synth-work, epic hooks and soaring vocals. Layered with luscious harmonies, ‘Little by Little’ is futuristic and moody, perfectly poised to be picked up for sync on a Netflix series or film. Watch this space!

Moving over to the delicate, angelic and celestial vocals of Tali now as she serenades us with the vulnerable pop ballad ‘One of a Kind’. With undulating piano to accompany her capable vocals, Tali doesn’t need anything to hide behind as her vocals take centre stage. Demonstrating an impressive range throughout, she swings from soft and sweet to powerful and strong. ‘One of a Kind’ encapsulates perfectly, the all encompassing, overwhelming feeling when you are head over heels in love with someone. Enchanting the listener within seconds, Tali’s talent is crystal clear from the very first note. Don’t sleep on this incredible artist.

Last but by no means least on our fully female fronted lineup (my GOSH what we would pay to see these ladies live on the same bill) we have the gorgeous, resounding vocals of Tyler Meacham and her extraordinarily emotive new single ‘Moving On’. Flecked with elements of indie, folk, singer-songwriter and threads of country, Tyler’s immaculate tone and remarkable timbre leave reminiscent tastes of Taylor Swift and a young Stevie Nicks on the palate. Demonstrating impeccable songwriting, drenched with flawless hooks and plenty of ear worm melodies, she perfectly encapsulates the often all too painful heartache of a friendship breakdown. So whack this on and sing your soul out with Tyler in this cathartic, healing and breathtaking new release.
