Jayd Ink teams up with Los Hendrix for meditative new single ‘Queen St’

Tackling the themes of isolation and thought, Jayd Ink’s new single ‘Queen St’ paints the picture of a deserted road in the middle of lockdown and portrays her emotional awakening in finding a sense of belonging in the city she grew up in and loves.

Oozing with flair and bathed in Jayd’s gorgeous, velvet-like tones, she channels the classic R&B artists with talent and class. Meditative, self-reflective and full of sentiment, this track was the culmination of both Jayd’s creativity and Los Hendrix’s (SZA ‘Good Days) production skills.

We’re addicted to this soulful song, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait long before Jayd Ink gives us more to savour. We’ll be strutting down ‘Queen St’ while we eagerly anticipate the release of her EP ‘Catching Red Lights’, tipped for release later this Summer.

“A few years ago I was feeling stuck, lost in my thoughts and unmotivated. I was in my head a lot about my life, my purpose and what’s next. I felt like I was stuck in Toronto, not being able to travel like I used to, had me feeling a bit stagnant. I used to go for drives in the night time to see the empty streets during the lockdown. “Queen street”, one of the busiest streets in Toronto, was now almost vacant. I thought – perfect… but this song went through many stages,  it was first called “Stuck in Toronto” until I met the producer Los Hendrix in Los Angeles. He played this beautiful melody that I fell in love with. What I had before didn’t feel the same so I rewrote it and named it – Queen St. ”  JAYD INK
