For your weekend listening plans, ‘Back To You’ is the fresh and breezy pop single from the talented songwriting sensation Leire. Just a few years ago, she was cutting her teeth by busking on the streets of Leicester, but since then this artist has gone on to achieve critical acclaim, garnered Spotify editorial support and shared stages with some of UK’s most well-known names, like Tom Walker, Gang of Youths and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.
With ‘Back To You’, this emerging musician goes back to the core of her pop roots. Leire puts her powerful voice front-and-center, which rises and falls with the mellow verses and the bombastic choruses. It’s undeniably reminiscent of early Taylor Swift, thanks to the energetic acoustic guitar and heart-warming melodies. As Leire explains in the quote below, she wrote ‘Back To You’ with her boyfriend Atticus Blue, and it’s an ode to her hometown of Bermeo, Basque Country and the friends that have supported her journey from the very start.
“I wrote this song in January, with my boyfriend, Atticus Blue. I knew I wanted to write a song about my hometown and friends, but I couldn’t find the way to get it right. This time it just happened very easily, from the idea that no matter what happens, I’m safe because I’m just a flight away from home. We finished it that same day, along with most of the production.”
