Hey Aliché, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell u99s something about yourself that nobody knows?
Haha, I am quite an open book so there’s not much no one knows. I used to go over old tapes on a tape recorder pretending to host my own top of the tops show, I’d put on my favourite songs and sing along pretending to be the artist and also the interviewing host!… Still gots the tapes too.
What influences have gone into your sound recently?
I get quite obsessed with vocal harmony stacks on songs, I get a lot of inspiration from Lalah Hathaway for that. She is the queen of layers and harmonies, In my opinion.
What are you currently working on?
Ive got quite a exciting project in the works at the moment. I won’t give too much away but it’s got a theme running through it and channels more of the live feel from my shows.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
For the rest of 2020 and first few months of 2021 I’ll just have my head down focusing on this project, maybe trying some live stream shows too. Fingers crossed for real live shows because the stage is my home.
Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?
I guess for me the most important thing is remembering our unique purpose and journeys. It’s so easy to get tied up in what everyone else is doing and where the rest of the world is, we forget to really zone in and trust our true selves more. And I know in the current climate it’s easy to just think ahead of time and of the future and when situations will end, but the present is the most valuable time to be focussing on. I mean without it the future we hope for wouldn’t happen.
Personally, I’ve been chanting (I’m Buddhist) and meditating through any uncertainties, and spending time doing the things I love like writing, reading and drawing.
