The new single ‘In Time’ from John Dhali is an amalgamation of indie, soul, pop and folk. It features rich yet nuanced instrumentation: gliding strings and driving guitars. It’s a song that showcases Dhali’s gritty yet agile vocals and empowering lyrics. But most of all, it’s a track that will uplift and liberate anyone who listens to it. It’s accompanied by a mesmerising video shot in Piccadilly Circus, central London, which sees Dhali allowing his true, uninhibited self to emerge. ‘In Time’ gives the impression that John Dhali is destined for big things.
Dhali has already been recognised as an exciting new prospect on the UK scene, receiving national airplay on BBC Radio 1, two regional awards for ‘Best Solo Artist’ and playing support slots for notable artists, including Frank Turner and Lucy Spraggan. His spiritual journey has taken him around the world, and now he’s sharing what he’s learnt through irresistible new music. We can’t wait to hear more.
“The song is really about not waiting around, which is funny cos I wrote it four years ago in India. I guess it was like a prophecy. It’s taken me this long to work out how to be me. It’s kinda like a declaration to myself that I’m not gonna dress up in any bullshit. We’re all here in time, and we don’t have long so I can’t waste mine being buried under some crumbling facade when what’s underneath is beautiful. I genuinely believe that the Self in everyone is divine, so I refuse to disguise or crush mine like I have in the past. Take it or leave it, here’s mine now show me yours kinda thing.” – Dhali.
