Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
Tee Noah, is the music alter ego of Tarik Noah Menzies, 25. He is a poet and prophet; a fictional descendant of Haile Selassie and Queen Sheba; and an enigma, cast in the same vein as the noble Memnon.
Where did the new single come from?
The ultimate idea behind this single is that love should not be confined. I tried to use the modern setting of the office to tell the same story as has been echoed throughout time. Love is love and we should not surrender that part of ourselves for money, for a career, for our parents or otherwise. Violence is mainstream but love has too long been taboo. The hook reflects the realty that although many see the reality, the oppression of love in varying forms, inter racial, inter gender, inter social class etc, they do not move to action but rather accept the limitations imposed on us by previous generations. It’s one thing to know something is wrong, another to speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
There is so much more coming. I have just released an EP called Out Of My Mind, which is available on Spotify, Youtube and Soundcloud. Next project will drop before the end of the year but still working on a release date.
What’s on the horizon?
Death. So before I reach that time I would like to continue to make music which can both entertain and uplift, mobilise or inspire some passion from my listeners, positive or otherwise. I am already doing what I love so my next step is to take your feedback and make something we can both love.
