Hey, tell us a bit about yourself
I am a singer from Congo, based in Toronto. I’d say most of my music is based in R&B/Soul with hints of Hip/Hop and some jazz influences here and there. Grew up listening to a lot of 90’s soul so that influences my music quite heavily. Mixed that in with traditional african music from my early years in Africa and current urban influences, I think you have my sound in a nutshell.
Where did the new single come from
“No Feelings”, the single came together very organically during an early morning studio session with my collaborator Tyler Bloomfielf who also produces and engineers. Started recording the song and Jordan Jones who is featured on the tune happened to be in the room and drafted his verse on the spot. Both of us ended wrapping up the recording within 1 hour. All of the elements were there so we sorta just ran with it. Sonically it’s quite different from some of my previous songs, so it’s exciting getting to show a different side to my music. I pride myself on not always sticking to one specific sound musically and experimenting as much as possible and I think this tune is an example of just that.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Most definitely. Working on my new project which will be titled SHIFT. It’ll be out Mid October. Super excited for this one. New songs, new vibes, new energy. I’ve been inspired by a lot of different sounds late and i’m excited for the new influences to show in the music. There’ll be a little bit for everyone in the project.
What’s on the horizon for you?
More music. At this point in time, I am really excited to share the new music I’ve been working on. After SHIFT, I’ll start piecing together material for a full length album for next year. I love playing live shows, so I’m looking forward to eventually going on the road and taking the music to new cities and spaces.
