Chatterbox: Becky Middleton

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a soulful songstress from Dallas, Texas. I sing, play keys or guitar and record for other artists when I’m not doing my own thing. I released my Christmas EP in 2015 and my debut LP “No Trouble” in 2009 (produced by Salim Nourallah). I love Aretha Franklin, vinyl, NYC pizza, and long walks on the beach.

Where did the new single come from?

This is the song that started off the whole album and new sound. This is the song that says what I’m about, what I can do, where I’ve been. I went through this terrible breakup as well as my personal life falling apart in other ways so really, I wrote this song to cheer myself up.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Oh yes! This is the first single off of the upcoming record. It’s a proper breakup album from beginning to end with a lot of soul and horns and an r&b bass section, produced by Beau Bedford (Paul Cauthen, Texas Gentlemen).  As I wrote this album, a new soul sound came out, and I cannot wait for people to hear it.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Promoting this single, releasing the album in 2017, traveling, and playing shows. A general feeling of getting my groove back.
