Sydney, Australia is blessing our ears today. Mookhi is an Aussie who has just released an exceptional debut track, the 22 year old producer is carving out a sound that will propel her through 2017. ‘Foul Play’ features Billy Fox on vocals, another emerging Australian artist.

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a female producer/electronic artist who goes by ‘Mookhi’. I make beats in my room by myself.

Where did the new single come from?

It came to me mid flight. There was no decent inflight entertainment, so I resorted to mucking around on Ableton. Feeling drowsy and impatient, I started slashing up some of my piano chords, and from there grew ‘Foul Play’. I felt like I needed to make a statement about women in the producing scene. Most guy producers use female vocalists, why couldn’t I have a male? So I took the track to local Sydney artist, Billy Fox, who really brought it to the next level.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Of course. I can’t stop making music/art. I have a music video to accompany ‘Foul Play’, which I’m editing right now. We shot at a local dodgy wreckers yard with an incredible team. I also have an upcoming EP which will launch on the 24th of Feb. However, I’m always scheming new tracks or film clips, so you’ll definitely be hearing and seeing more of me.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Being the complete artist, which means controlling every facet of Mookhi, visually, musically and conceptually. Also to support other female producers/DJs/electronic artists. I feel like there will be a movement amongst women in the music scene, and I want to do everything I can to contribute to that movement.
