Fernando Arroyo, aka AR Ferdinand, introduces his upcoming EP ‘Wild Fiction’ with the first single ‘Lately’, featuring vocals from Daphne. It’s a smooth production, filled with sumptuous rhodes progressions and a driven beat. The hats flicker around Daphne’s melody, dipping in and out.
Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m from El Salvador, a tiny country in central America. I’m 21 years old and on March I’ll be releasing my debut album titled “Wild Fiction”. When I was 12 I started my music career and I never looked back again. after many genres, names and tries, I decided to just make a mess of my music by putting everything I knew into it and doing what I liked, not jump on a trend or bandwagon. Eventually I started to see results in new ways I never thought I could. AR Ferdinand was born.
Where did the new single come from?
Lately actually came recently, it started because I’d been in an heavy hip-hop phase which sparked the influence for the drums. The chords and melodies are very jazz centric, then it’s all in a electronic kind of production. The instrumental was cool with all the synths and arrangements, then came Daphne. She immediately bonded with the song and we went from there. I think it’s one of the more special songs on the record, it shows a real strive for something different by having familiar stuff.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Yes, my debut LP “Wild Fiction” is coming this March. It will be a 12 or 13 track LP (haven’t decided yet). It has so much stuff and I’m pretty proud of all of it. 3 years making it have proven challenging to say the least and an intense experience. Having evolve so much, the oldest tracks now sound as I’ve envisioned them when I started them. We have music videos, live performances and more surprises involving the record.
What’s on the horizon for you?
I’m hoping to start touring, It’s one of the best things music can bring you and it’s at the top of my list. We’ll see how the record goes. More music also, I have tons of material right now and hope to get some singles or an EP by the rest of the year. I just know I wanna keep doing it, making music is my passion and if I can survive doing it then let’s keep going.
