Romania’s Michelle Sara shines on indie-pop gem ‘Like a Thief’

Introducing Romanian singer-songwriter Michelle Sara with her latest single ‘Like a Thief’, which is an unmissable indie-pop gem that while appearing light on the surface, actually ruminates on much deeper issues. Through her breezy songwriting and penchant for the nostalgic, this artist explores karmic cycles, especially concerning those who take without giving back. Michelle is very much the observer here, having gained clarification through personal experience that shows a maturity beyond her 22 years. This is evident in poignant lines like, “tell me yes or no, but don’t say maybe, you always wanna be loved, but you never give love,” which she delivers in her floating, sympathetic vocal.

This narrative of innate growth and self-esteem is wrapped up in waves of airy synths and washed-out guitars. We especially love the chorus which has a real Euro-pop edge to it, reminiscent of 00s legends like Cascada. That rhythmic pulse really helps to propel this track along, further adding to the sense of hope, optimism and brighter days ahead. Having made her debut last year and already with a string of well-crafted pop tracks under her belt, we’re sure that 2026 will be an exciting year ahead for Michelle Sara.
