Hey Josh Christina thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?
Thank you! Well, I am a big fan of bourbons and whiskeys. I really enjoy getting into tasting different ones and the different flavors and taste they give off, how aged they are and the smokiness of them. I’m sure some people close to me know that but it’s not too widely known I’d say.
What influences have gone into your sound recently?
Recently I’ve been on a big Joe Cocker and Ray Charles binge. Ray has such great songs with killer backups and orchestrations. Joe is just raw emotion and just a rocker at heart. Usually though, when I’m not listening to these guys I’m usually cranking up Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis or Elton John, probably some Chuck Berry thrown in there. Just depends!
What are you currently working on?
Currently I’ve been working on this “Piano Rock Through the Ages” show I’m trying to get out there. It’s a show that consists of music by Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Elton John and Billy Joel just to name a few. All the piano rock tunes I love. Just trying to keep that genre alive and expose a new generation to it.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Right now my year is really booked up so I’ll be doing a lot of shows and traveling. I have two Jerry Lee Lewis tribute shows I’ll be involved with in the fall, one in Havre De Grace, Maryland and another in Cincinnati, Ohio. Super looking forward to them and having some other great piano players and artists on the bill, all playing music by The Killers. That’s where my roots are.
Exciting to hear you have recently joined Blackburn International, what are you most looking forward to with this new chapter of your career? Yes, I’m very excited about Blackburn. They’re the leading agency in the world for booking headliners for cruise lines so I’m super excited about the opportunity to be able to see the world and play my music. I’ll be doing my Piano Rock show on the ships which will be awesome cause I’ll be able to expose people from all over to that music, keep the oldies alive for some and for others, introducing them to the genre. Can’t wait!
