We’re dancing to Hips’ feel-good alt-pop anthem ‘Gimme Gimme’

Today, we’d like to introduced the the solo project of Swedish songwriter and producer LUKI, has been making waves since its inception in 2016 under the moniker Hips. It was born out of a frustration with the lack of “happy” music in the mainstream. You’ll hear influences ranging from Prince to The Weeknd and Drake, plus a smattering of 80s-leaning synth-pop.

Transporting the listener to a happier place is Hips’ latest release,’gimme gimme’. It’s an infectiously catchy and up-tempo alt-pop anthem that is sure to get you on your feet. The finely tuned guitar lines from Brent Paschke (Pharrel, NER*D) and crisp pop-woven melodies create a potent and intoxicating sound that captures the hearts of many. The song pays homage to the ABBA smash hit, but Hips stands on his own two feet with his cleverly intertwined sonic exploration and sense of euphoria that every pop lover craves.

Hips’ mission is simple: to make the listener feel-good and dance. With his debut Swoon EP and hit single ‘Loose Tonight’ amassing over 13 million streams on Spotify alone, it’s clear that he’s succeeding. Hips is a rising Swedish star, and ‘gimme gimme’ is just the latest example of his ability to create pop-infused gems for right now.
