Following an epic year of 22 music releases in the tumultuous year of 2020, garnering support from Bitbird, Trap Nation, Proximity, Diplo and Friends and more, juuku is primed and ready to unveil his debut EP, ‘Warmth’. A work years in the making, the 7-track project, released via Moving Castles, is an explorative and experimental journey through a mish-mash of electronic genres and sonic influences seamlessly combined into a masterful body of work by the anonymous producer.
The intro track, ‘Arrival’, opens the project for what is to be a strategically curated, emotionally-charged experience. The EP features ‘Just Lost’, a collaborative song with Manilla Killa (who helped start Moving Castle) that houses an infectious, bouncy drop that is sure to fill speakers in the coming months.
‘Beneath Us’ offers the only other track on the EP that features guest vocals, this time from Los Angeles-based musician McCall who lends her husky, longing vocals to the twinkling, synth-heavy production before breaking into an exhilliarating 808’s fuelled beat drop.
Throughout the rest of the project, juuku further exemplifies his ability to transcend stylistic borders with experimental and compelling bass-driven tracks. This project truly lives up to all hopes and expectations listeners could have had, all coming to a close at 20 minutes and 23 seconds, closing off with ‘Departure’, the outro, bringing the EP to a sonically satisfying close.
