CHATTERBOX: Raheem Nota talks new music, religion and dream collaborations

Hey Raheem, thanks so much for agreeing to have a chat with us about you and your new music, it’s a pleasure to have you on the blog.

First things first, how’re you feeling right now?

Right now, I’m feeling great about my music, I’ve released a new single everyone seems to love, and I’m just gassed about the music I’m making right now. Positive feedback to any song that I drop always just makes me so happy and inspires me to put out more of my stuff!

Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody really knows? / Can’t find from a Google search?

“So, I’m a very religious person, which a lot of people don’t know. It’s strange because before I turned 15, I wasn’t religious at all, but I was feeling really down one day and I wasn’t getting happier or anything, so I put on this pendant necklace that my grandma had given me, and I’m telling you as soon as I put on that necklace a weight was lifted from me. it’s like my connection with God had been like reimbursed in me. So yeah, God is one of the most important things in my life. “

Your latest single, ‘Just Wanna Feel Loved Again’ has some very personal lyrics, do you find it easy to bare your soul in your music?

Yeah definitely. I feel like the music I write doesn’t take me long at all. This single id say took me less than an hour to write because I just wrote about how I felt at that moment. Writing about materialistic stuff isn’t for me it takes too long. Writing from the heart is what I’m way more comfortable with.

What inspired you to teach yourself to start creating music?

“I’ve always grown up wanting to be a world-famous artist, touring places, and selling out shows I just didn’t know how to start it. but then I mentioned this to my parents, and my dad had some old equipment from when he recorded his own music and I started from there. Ever since then I’ve been upgrading my studio in my bedroom and just creating more and more bangers!

What’s been a highlight of the creative process behind ‘Just Wanna Feel Loved Again’

“I think for me a highlight behind the creative process of ‘Just Wanna Feel Loved Again’ is the amount of time I spent on it. Usually, recording a song takes me 3 hours or less just to get vocals down, but I’d say I worked for a solid 3 days just trying to get one line of the song right. As you consistently make more music, you want it to get better and better and I refined this song so much, and when I heard the final result of it after the mixing and mastering, I knew it was the best song I’d made.”

Name a dream collaboration of yours, dead or alive.

“My dream collab would have to be The Kid Laroi. I always get compared to him and I feel like our styles are both unique but similar. We rap about the same stuff and I feel like we would just click when writing a song. “

Do you have any hobbies/interests outside of music?

Honestly, I don’t have any hobbies or interests outside music. All I do is wake up, do school and then write and record music. All I can see myself doing in the future is music and that’s what my mind’s on 24/7.

What can fans look forward to from you next?

My next song is not going to just be me! I’m trying to secure a few collabs with some people I know and they’re all very talented artists. Also, I’m trying to get a music video for “Just Wanna Feel Loved Again” sorted so that should be coming soon!

Lastly, name a track you’re really feeling right now?

I’d say I’m really getting into Chris Brown and Tory Lanez. That sort of fusion between RnB and Hip-Hop is honestly heat. Right now, I’m listening to the album ‘Indigo’ by Chris Brown its fire.
