Here’s what Purple Melon HQ have been digging this week….
Fun, funky and fresh! ‘Rebel’ from Ormiston is an up-tempo piece of chillwave indie-pop steeped in disco rhythms. The alternative production and sing-a-long melody makes this a no brainer for our playlist. ‘Rebel’ makes singing about those hard times in a relationship not so bad after all.

This one is an alt-folk tonic for the soul for fans of Lucy Rose and Novo Amor. A collaboration between London-based musician Francis and Jolé, ‘Postcards’ is a delightfully paced and craftily produced track takes us on a nostalgic trip to the Scottish Highlands where we’re surrounded by soft sonic textures. Excitingly, ‘Postcards’ is also Francis’ debut single, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the follow-up.

Next up is ‘Privacy’ by Bertell. Perfect listening for your pre-valentines day plans, this reminds us of old school RnB at its finest. Silky vocals, smooth licks and those soulful, heartfelt love story lyrics line this track turning it into a new school jam! The Texas based artist Bertell is also working on his self titled docu-series which explores his journey into the industry as an independent artist.

Berlin based producer and songwriter, LO has a brand new track out for us today, in the form of the futuristically bright and bubbly alt-pop, electro dance single ‘LOST IN A DREAM’. Hand picked from his forthcoming album ‘Night Owls’ this newest offering is a welcome addition to the recently released ‘BLU’. We eagerly await more from this talented producer.

German artist, Felix Räuber is up next with his latest single ‘Scared To Be Human’ which is taken from his upcoming EP AUTSIDER. The acclaimed artist has already had major SYNC success with his song APRÈS MINUIT (feat. Schlindwein) which featured on the hit ABC series How To Get Away With Murder. A beautiful live recorded visual accompanies this new release featuring a neo-classical focus with a new string amalgamation.

Last up is a super heartwarming little tune from husband and wife duo Toby and Pip. ‘Little Lady’ is an autobiographical song based on the early experience of parenthood and is written as a declaration to their daughter Josie, who inspired this upbeat and uplifting track. It’s a joyful song with an adorable home video and one they hope will bring some much-needed happiness to others at this time. Josie seems to like it too which is a good start! 🙂
