Chatterbox: Nia Wyn – ponytails, keeping busy and collaborations.

On this edition of Chatterbox we managed to grab a quick word with soulstress singer Nia Wyn, having featured her last EP Love I Can’t Ruin, it was great to see what the talented artist is up to at the moment.

Hey, thanks for talking to us. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?

I didn’t know how to tie my own hair in a ponytail until I was twelve.

Haha, fair play, thanks for sharing! What would you say the influences are that have gone into your sound recently?

Children of Zeus, Esther Phillips.

Nice! What are you currently working on?

Following my recent single Who Asked You, I’ve been working on a bunch of songs and collaborations, been very creative recently and feeling lucky I have recording equipment at home. Been doing Zoom sessions with the producer I regularly work with (Pat McManus) every week.

Sweet, seems like you are managing to keep busy! What are your plans for this year, has the current state of things affected those?

I was due to open for Paul Weller on his UK tour in May but that’s been rescheduled for March 2021. However plans still stay the same to keep on making and releasing new music. Trying to use this time to collaborate and work with other artists more and have as many sessions with my producer as possible.

Cool, sounds good! Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?

Keep a routine daily definitely, but don’t fixate on the whole idea of you having to use this time to learn a new skill or do this or that. We are living in bizarre and unprecedented times and we shouldn’t be expected to be productive right now if we can’t be. We are coping as well as we can.
