Emanuel’s ‘Need You’ video portrays connection and love in quarantine

We absolutely adore the story behind this video. When Canadian artist Emanuel recently released his single ‘Need You’, it was swiftly picked up by the one-and-only creative polymath Idris Elba. Having fallen in love with the serene and pensive RnB of Emanuel, Elba offered to start a collaborative project with the world in order to create a music video unlike any other.

Following a social media outreach from Idris Elba, he collected thousands of videos and images from around the world and made an “inspirational collage”.

The images are perfectly timed with the stop-start piano keys and Emanuel’s floating, meditative vocals. The whole song is about longing; longing for connection, for love, for intimacy. Yet, it’s undeniably hopeful.
