Chatterbox: Cassia

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

Hey! So we’re a three piece band from Macclesfield who write happy afro-rock music. We want to make people feel good, to go and explore cool stuff and experience awesome things to it. We started around two and a half years ago, and have just been exploring as much new music as we can! We’re looking to make something that is different but still accessible – our favourite bands have always been the ones who’ve managed that! We love old west african records from the 50’s and 70’s, just makes us want to dance. It all has a really joyful humble thing going on which we really like.

Where did the new single come from?

Well it came from a lot of the same things you hear about quite often really! Relationship stuff…heartache. We wanted to turn it into something positive but still have that underlying reflective thing going on underneath. Hopefully people will be able to use it to escape the bad stuff.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Yeah quite a lot actually! We have the rest of our next EP ‘Movers & Shapers’ coming out over the course of the year. And we’re writing loads at the minute which is really exciting, not 100% sure whats coming next but it’s really cool seeing how it’s starting to progress musically.

What’s on the horizon for you?

So we’re touring in October! A lot of the dates sold out a couple months in advance which has been really awesome! Can’t wait for that! Then we’ll be touring a lot more next year i reckon! The word album is starting to cross peoples lips but nothing set in stone by any means! We’re just buzzing to keep it moving forward the way it is doing right now!
