Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

I recently adopted a cute Pekingese dog named Onni. I treat him like a human child and my friends despise me for it! What else…I grew up in Finland and packed my bags and moved to Ireland as a 16-year old. I lived in London, Paris, New York and Edinburgh and supported myself by busking on the streets, and working as a nanny for families that would go on holidays with private jets! I must have been a great nanny cause they still occasionally fly me out to babysit their kids! My artist name Alba was given to me by a friendly old Moroccan man in Tangier. This guy was sort of a psychic – he predicted future from ink stains and had his own wild eagles as pets…You get the idea! Later on turned out he was like the head of Coca-Cola company in Africa. We still keep in touch!

Where did the new single come from?

Diamonds & Cash is a super raw representation of my deepest darkest side. Coming from a very unstable family situation I always looked for a father figure and for someone to take care of me. I was afraid to give my heart away unless I was getting something in return. About a year ago I was watching a bunch of old Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn films and I just loved the way they portrayed these gold digger characters in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and How to Marry a Millionaire. There is always this undeniable element of sadness to these characters and that’s how I managed to come in terms with my own dark side.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

I have lots of material in the baking! I used to do melancholic folky type of music with ukulele and guitar and now I’m making pop music with an element of fun…So I’m trying to put something together that doesn’t sound like a total freakshow. But I like to keep things honest so it will most likely be a total freakshow!

What’s on the horizon for you?

I’m collaborating with lots of awesome talented people so I suspect great things are to come. I’m also seeing some diamonds and cash!
