Hey, tell us a bit about yourself?
“A sadistic Jeff Buckley, nice…” Words from a lady at the last show I played… I’ll take that!
I’m a rhythmic and groove driven Brighton based singer-songwriter, I produce all my own music from home. I decided to start writing when I heard Chet Faker for the first time, I loved the electronic influences in his music, that mixed with his vocal struck a real chord with me. I’ve always been a lover of D’Angelo, since the age of 11 there’s been a shrine either side of my bed and the bed sheets are his face, each pillow an eye.
Father John Misty once said “your gunna have to drive me down on the beach if you wanna right the reals” so I hope I never meet him.. D that is.
Where did the new single come from?
A few different places, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Jungle sonically.. but emotionally it was driven from the the start of a new relationship, I’d fallen for someone but then felt trapped, the song was more of a paradox for me than anything else, hard to explain how and where my mind was at the time, kind of besotted, clouded and irrational all at the same time. I still don’t I really represented exactly how I felt on the track but that’s how it came out.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
A whole lot’a stuff!
What’s on the horizon for you?
I’ve just finished up the album and I’m heading out to Melbourne beginning of next year to hit up the music scene. A lot of my influences stem from artists there, so I’m off to check it out. I’ll be getting back to the UK beginning next summer for the festival scene with my newly formed band so I’m really looking forward to that!
