Chatterbox: Caroline Lazar

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi I’m Caroline, I’m originally from Atlanta, but I’m currently studying music at the University of Miami. I’m a big fan of cats, online shopping but then never actually ordering anything, and cozy smelling candles. Most of my time is spent with other musicians and they constantly inspire me. I love travelling, my favorite places have been London and New Zealand, and I’m heading out to Amsterdam for my Spring Break!

Where did the new single come from?

‘Nevermine’ came from a crazy month in my life where I just felt out of control and emotional and I didn’t know what to do with what I was feeling. I actually wrote all of the lyrics to Nevermine in one night and didn’t change a word. I wanted the story and the music to give the listener the same feelings I was going through. The funny little tid bit, is that the boy actually did teach me how to start a fire. He spent two hours one night at a party trying to teach me how to use a lighter, and now I’m a pro.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Yes yes yes! I made a whole conceptual EP based off of Nevermine. I will be releasing my next single in March, and then the EP, and then who knows!

What’s on the horizon for you?

Well, fingers crossed I stay in school long enough to graduate next year! I’m already writing music for a second project, whatever that might be. I’m experimenting with a lot of different guitar tunings and genres and figure out what I really want to say in a follow up. I’m trying my best to breathe and appreciate where I am right now, at college with friends learning about music- but at the same time I’m constantly checking rent prices in Manhattan and London.
