Chatterbox: Alessandra

As soon as the track opens you know you’re dealing with a winner, Alessandra’s voice is as powerful as it is beguiling. The vocal rings out across the track and it’s all you can concentrate on, fixated by her words and carried by her melody. The production is restrained enough to let Alessandra sing out, unencumbered by busy instrumentation. The synth-work is extremely satisfying when it opens up in the middle 8. Alessandra is one to watch this year.

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m an artist, songwriter and producer based in Stockholm. I pretty much spend all my days in the studio. I write a lot for other artists as well as for my own project. In June I won the Denniz Pop Awards in the category “Best Rookie Artist of the Year”, but I had not released anything so this is the first song I’m releasing!

Where did the new single come from?

When I write music from myself, I always write from personal experiences. “Your River” is a dramatic depiction of a summer crush – that feeling of wanting to dive deeper into someone and letting go of your pride. I’ve been struggling to finish songs because I’ve never been satisfied enough, but right now I’m in a place where I feel as though they don’t need to be “perfect”. So I’ve put less pressure on myself and as a result been more creative. “Your River” is just a lot of emotions boiled down to one song.

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Right now I’m mixing my second single that will be released shortly! And of course I have more songs on the way… Perhaps an EP too..

What’s on the horizon for you?

Releasing more music, and I just want to keep on being creative and make music that I love.
