Swanny Ivy is a Texas based artist and producer who is set to blow up in 2017. With a real knack for writing solid hooks and an infectious vocal tone, I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more of him in the coming months. Poison Ivy is as considered as it is catchy, with the production laying a firm basis for Ivy’s melody.
Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
Im Swanny Ivy, 22 and born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I’ve been making music since I was 17 with a indie music group, Ivy League, that I co founded in the same year. We all grew up in the same area and wanted the same things in life. I went off to Univ of Houston for a good two semesters and hated everything about college other than the late nights we spent blazing our dorm room making music, pissing off the whole floor. Once I realized how deep my passion for music was, I dropped out and just took a leap. Since then I’ve just been broadening my skill sets and focusing on what I have to offer. Writing songs, self directing all music videos, mapping out creative concepts for my team.
Where did the new single come from?
Me and my producer/friend G. Clef had took a trip to Costa Rica for a songwriting convention put together by Adam Mcinnis. I pretty much had the biggest ego death of my life. I’m mostly known for making music to rage to and let all your inner demons out to. During that trip I showed some great A&R’s , producers, and songwriters my work and was just really surprised to hear what they had to say about me. Long story short, they helped me realize that I was limiting myself by focusing on rapping alone. My vocal range was there, I had to just find the perfect way to use it. As soon as we got back to America, me and G clef got straight to work on these positive and musically logical vibes I’ve never felt before. Next thing you know we had Poison Ivy.
What other content is in the pipeline?
Oh we went straight to work. We have singles on singles that will capture targeted audiences. My whole team has visuals in the vault for a rainy day. It’s crazy because none of us are alike in any way but it’s the biggest blessing. Every avenue of music is covered in one household name IVY. I would definitely expect more poison ivy vibes.
What’s on the horizon for you?
I plan to become the “superstar” everyone has been telling me I would be. We’ve done shows/festivals opening for Tory Lanez, Travis Scott, Rae sremmurd, G-Eazy, kehlani, just to name a few. Constantly having to convince crowds of thousands that have no clue who we are “you should love us” “we are what you’ve been looking for”. I don’t plan on keeping it that way. Soon they’ll already know why they came to the show, to see IVY (Reek $avage, THEABYSSS, Blues, Xan Solo). We have every reason to pursue that and no excuses not to. We’ve been more than patient.
