Lauren Presley unleashes the cathartic new single ‘Already Dead’

After first stepping onto our radar last year with her nostalgic pop-rock single ‘Trade Secrets’, rising Nashville talent Lauren Presley returns with another gripping alternative anthem ‘Already Dead’. This track captures the feeling of when overwhelm, outside pressures and internal turmoil all become too much, taking one past burnout and into a state of shutdown. It’s a startlingly common experience in our modern world and yet there’s an element of shame attached to emotional exhaustion that leaves you completely numb. This is exactly why Lauren was so motivated to shine a light on this universal ordeal through the explosive rock energy of ‘Already Dead’.

Built around Lauren’s powerhouse pop vocals, which deliver evocative lines like, “let the heat get closer to my skin, jump in the deep end, I can barely swim, water’s flooding in, I’m suffocating,” which really brings that sense of being overcome to the fore. Alongside her breath-taking vocal performance, intermittent bursts of grungey guitars and forceful drums further emphasise the need for emotional catharsis. From start to finish, ‘Already Dead’ doesn’t lose its momentum, which shows how Lauren isn’t afraid to bring these darker feelings to the surface. In doing so, this profound songwriter offers a space of solidarity and support to her growing audience.

“I wrote “Already Dead” after thinking about what it feels like to become emotionally disconnected from yourself. There are times when anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion leave you feeling completely numb, and this song came from wanting to put that feeling into words. It’s an alt-rock track about emotional paralysis and the search to feel something again. The chorus asks, “Am I already dead?” while the repeated line “I wanna feel it in my chest” captures the desperation to reconnect with yourself when you feel emotionally shut down. Inspired by artists like Maggie Lindemann, Halsey, and Julia Wolf, the track blends raw vulnerability with explosive alt-rock energy.”
