‘Bitter Boys’ begins with bouncing piano chords that set a playful yet poignant stage. As the track unfolds, roaring distorted guitar licks burst forth like lightning, electrifying the astute observations embedded in Shannon’s lyrics. This musical juxtaposition between delicate vulnerability and assertive power embodies the very essence of the song. It’s a bold declaration, a satirical letter aimed at all the men who ever dared to dim her spirit. “Bitter Boys is a satirical letter to all the men who have ever tried to break my spirit. I started dancing in a strip club when I was 18 years old. In a weird way, that choice saved my life. However, it also exposed me to a lot of really unwell people and toxic masculine energy, which is what this song speaks to.”
