As listeners, we are invited to embark on a pilgrimage, venturing into “The Lake of the Dead” guided by Veronica’s melancholic lead vocals and a chorus of celestial harmonies. These harmonies create an angelic choir of spectral spectators, enhancing the dreamlike quality of the song.

“The Lake of the Dead” is a hauntingly beautiful composition that immerses us in Veronica’s world, where music becomes a vessel for storytelling and emotions are painted with delicate, intricate strokes. It’s a journey worth taking, a musical odyssey that lingers in the mind long after the final note has faded.

“I wrote this about this song about a weird dream I had: me and my family lived in a village where death happened in a peculiar way. When it’s your time to die, you feel it and you have to go to the lake and let yourself drown. Everyone was ok with this but one day it was my turn and I didn’t want to go.

My family couldn’t understand why and just said “goodbye” to me, after moments of desperation I decided to surrender, and let myself go and as soon as I died I was transported towards a white light and I was born again. I was very haunted by this dream so I stayed up all night and wrote and produced this song in four hours, building it on the piano riff that had been stuck in my head for days.” – Veronica
