‘TWDN’ is a thought-provoking track that speaks to the emptiness of consumer culture, and how it can leave us feeling isolated and unfulfilled. KLEO’s unique perspective and innovative approach to music make her a force to be reckoned with in the industry. With her growing global audience and unique sound, it’s clear that KLEO is a rising star who is here to stay.
“Things We Don’t Need – which I’ve shortened to TWDN – is a song I wrote about the boundary between the consumer and the product and how the two are becoming increasingly indistinguishable due to our capitalistic society. The song is about how incredibly full our lives are of ‘stuff’ but how incredibly lonely and unhappy we are. We are constantly bombarded with adverts pushing the latest ‘thing’ that promises to make us complete (usually driven by data that social media apps collect on us in the background) but the happiness that is promised is seldom delivered, and if it is, it is fleeting. For a long time, this has led me to wonder: are we the consumer, or have we become the product? They are consumed.”
