Familiar Indie Kids’ name Scoobert Doobert put their remix skills to Skinny Dippers’ original track ‘Highs & Lows’. This remingination brings a fresh, danceable twist to the Brooklyn-based indie project’s signature guitar-driven sound. It’s taken on that distinctive lofi appeal of Scoobert Doobert and as a result the listener is taken on a psychedelic journey with a danceable beat. What’s really great about this collaboration is how it organically came about, when the two artists found themselves on similar playlists and became social media friends. You gotta love the power of the internet.

Crystal Cities’ new single ‘The Strangest Dream; takes listeners on a journey through the band’s subconscious mind. The track is the third release from their upcoming LP, and sees the Sydney indie rock trio delving into darker and more brooding territory. Thunderous choruses alternate with spacey dreamscape verses, with new drummer Neel Shukla impressing with his rolling chorus pattern. The track also features a standout moment for Jared King’s bass in verse two, as it dances around the lead vocal before the song explodes once more into an anthemic chorus. With lyrics about fighting for one’s life and facing death, this one is a haunting and intense listening experience.

Social Station is a father and son duo from Washington DC. It’s interesting to see how they incorporate analog synths, post-punk bass lines, and melancholic vocals into their music, which creates a unique and haunting sound. You’ll hear this deft combination in new track ‘Secrets to be Heard’, which explores the struggles of being comfortable in one’s own skin. It’s something to get listeners excited for their full-length album, In the Fallout, set to drop in May.

Ending on an absolute high, we have brand new track ‘Lock & Key’ from the sensational Sky Olson for our Indie Kids curtain call. Dreamy vocals, gorgeous harmonies and lusciously lo-fi production drive this newest release and with a simplified, laid back arrangement, Sky’s vocals truly take centre stage.

Overflowing with plenty of hook worthy melodies, ‘Lock & Key’ is understated, edgy and utterly unique. Dusted with Sky’s soft and hazy tone, the award winning songwriter delivers compelling lyricism detailing the alluring, often intoxicating push and pull of being drawn to someone we know we shouldn’t be.

Inspired by a range of artists from Billie Eilish to John Mayer, Sky Olson showcases his impeccable and undeniable talents in the left field, indie, alt-pop track ‘Lock & Key’ with an array of ominous string work, enchanting piano chords and a moody yet enticing guitar Solo.

Sky Olson has our ears under ‘Lock & Key’ (quite frankly he can throw away the key) and we can’t wait to hear more.
