Hey Ugly Mothers, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?
C: Absolutely not. That’s incredibly personal and private information. If you must know my favourite colour is navy blue, I like trench coats and don’t eat sushi.
What influences have gone into your sound recently?
C:I really want an Opera singer to come to the studio and pipe out a couple bars of music that I’ve written. I’ve been watching too many Hollywood gangster films recently some of the soundscapes and music, combined with the cinematography is amazing. So, I was listening to that Opera singer that’s always piping-up on the lower-level of Covent Garden and she sounded incredible. So, I started thinking about the idea if I could write a motif and get her down and lay out some saucy melodies and harmonies down the studio. Think how amazing and incredible the soundscape and scene could be if we let loose and let our imaginations and fuzz pedals really run wild… But then I thought about the price, and it seemed expensive, and then I went to pub, and then the football was on, and I’d forgotten all about it until now.
Ah well.
What are you currently working on?
C: Lots of stuff. Got two Eps in the pipeline. I’d say about six songs locked and loaded, 12 ideas knocking about. We’ll see what comes to fruition I suppose.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
C: Easy one – see my nan.
Anything else?
C: Got tickets for Viagra Boys in December up in Liverpool. They’re a sick band gonna be a beano no doubt. Got Baxter Dury as well. That’ll be good. Kentish Town Forum. Oi oi. I’m Mr. Maserati. I’m hoping the band does some stuff. Got a gig next week and another at the end of the month – This month – October innit – 2021. Hope & Anchor, Islington, London. 7th October, £7 OTD (CASH ONLY)
Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?
C: Shrug convincingly and do your thing. If someone don’t like it – tough. Go and cry to someone else. It’s nothing to do with me. It’s definitely not my fault. I have an alibi and several, reliable witnesses. I wasn’t even there when whatever happened happened.
Thank you Thank you, Nice one Nice one,
Sound Charlie.
