Chatterbox: Laurel Smith chats Karate, Rap influences and remote learning

Hey Laurel, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?
One thing not many people know about me could be that I’m a black belt in Karate.

What influences have gone into your sound recently?

I’ve been really influenced by rap recently, I’m currently working on combining elements of Hip Hop and Dark Pop.

What are you currently working on?
Recently I’ve been working on some collaborations that I’m very excited to share soon 🙂 I’ve been pushing myself out of my comfort zone and experimenting with new styles.

What are your plans the year ahead?
I’m currently finishing up my A levels which have been rough for a lot of people my age due to COVID and remote learning which SUCKS. But once all that is done I’ll be in a lot more studio sessions to bring you guys more music!

Any top tips for getting through this difficult time?
Try not to distance yourself from the people you love, it can be really hard to do but just checking in on everyone and have a conversation with your friends can really lift a weight off your shoulders and make you feel less alone, remember everyone is going through something.
