American artist Mokita, real name John-Luke Carter, has been steeped in music from an early age. Beginning classic piano lesson at age six, Carter went on the pick up the guitars and started songwriting as a teen; and thus he had all the elements of a modern day pop artist in the making.
Through his songwriting, Mokita explores themes of depression and anxiety, as well as the joy, stress and uncertainty of budding and fading relationships. We hear this clearly in his newest single ‘Ready Yet’ as the artist reflects on the end of a relationship, all the confusion and heartbreak that comes along with that. It’s an honest exposure of how it feels when you’re not yet over an ex, all framed against dancey electronica, contemporary pop melodies and a sweeping production.
