‘Fireproof’ is the sumptuous new single from emerging producer Braden The Young and R&B vocalist Tevin Williams. It’s a rich combination of brash hip-hop influenced percussion and lo-fi organic elements. It’s the result of an 8 month long writing and recording process that began on Braden’s phone. The eventual finished product is an exploration into the edges of R&B – with perfectly performed vocals from Williams.
“Fireproof started as a demo in my Dropbox. It was kind of this slow EDM-meets-jazz-lounge thing which I was singing on, and I knew it wasn’t really clicking. My good friend, Mark (Francis) had just met this super amazing singer (Tevin), and I was thought to myself “if this guy can’t make this track great, then I don’t think anyone ever will” haha. Tevin wrote a couple verses actually on a plane ride to Thailand. The three of us got together shortly thereafter, and long story short, we realized we all kind of hated what everyone had done on the track individually. But then we came together at my home studio and pretty much wrote out the whole song in one night. It’s a high school love story! Who can’t relate to that? Fireproof took a long time to flesh out the production after that (like 8 months or something), but seeing it come together and released is super rewarding.” – Braden
