Chatterbox: Sam Setton chats to us about ‘Hurts So Much’, New York City, his sound and what’s coming up

Hey Sam, thanks for talking to us. Could you tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?

Haha great question. I had to think about this for a while because I’m pretty open about everything that goes on in my life…I guess no one knows that I change my iPhone wallpaper every few weeks to keep things fresh on the device I’m staring at 8 hours of the day.

What influences have gone into your sound over the last few releases?

A mixture of Daniel Caeser, John Mayer, the 1975 and LANY

Do you feel your sound is shifting?

Yes and no. I can feel my songwriting getting better and shifting in terms of delivery, but I’ve been doubling down on my own sound as of late.

What does Hurts So Much draw on in terms of subject?

Heartbreak. That feeling when a breakup is still fresh so your mind is clouded because you are romanticizing a relationship that was actually super toxic.

Is it part of a larger project, an EP or album?

Yes it is! Not sure I can say right now though. Stay tuned.

Where are you based?

NYC baby. Born, raised and based.

Do you feel like your city influences your sound at all?

1000% yes. My city and my sound are both straight shooting, moody, and diverse.

What do fans have to look forward to over the next few months?

More releases, live shows, and some exciting surprises 😉
