Kate Lomas is having a breakout year, in August she released ‘Drink 2 U’ – it swiftly caught the ears of tastemakers and became Radio 1’s Track of The Week. It currently sits at over 350,000 streams on Spotify, having grabbed spots in some considerable editorial playlists. The Londoner’s new single ‘Leave Out The Lows’ is another winner, with Lomas’ nonchalant vocal drenching the track with charisma – the production is restrained with a few furtive synth lines and some bold percussion. Keep an eye on Lomas, she is gearing up for an extremely fruitful 2019.
“The song is about getting so caught up in insignificant things, like when people get angry with you because you haven’t immediately replied to their messages; I just thought, why does it have to be like this? Why can’t we just leave out the lows and have a good time?!” says Lomas. “I wanted to write something that reflected how I feel about social media and the time we live in at the moment. We’re actually getting to a point in society where we lose friends if we’re not online. It’s ridiculous and I guess that’s why I wanted to create something which in itself feels a bit ridiculous.” – Kate Lomas
