Influences: Emerging producer Samuraii talks us through five tracks that shape his sound

Phonat – Set Me Free (Avicii mix)

Taking it back to when I was 14 and first started producing with this one. Avicii was still underground and I had seen every clip of him there was on youtube. Looking back he was pretty much the reason I started producing… Rest in peace to a legend.

Jakubi – Can’t Afford It All (Kygo Remix)

I remember sending one of my first remixes to Kygo on Soundcloud when he was first coming up. I freaked out when he responded and said he liked it. Summer is my fav season for sure and I like to include elements in my music that reminds me of it. Kygo has been an inspiration for that.

Flume ft. T-shirt – On Top

This song never gets old. I’ve been listening to hip hop since I was a kid and Flume opened my eyes for the possibility of combining hip hop and dance music. These days a lot of my beats are very influenced by hip hop.

Oh Wonder – Body Gold (Louis The Child Remix)

This remix is iconic. Without Louis The Child my music wouldn’t sound the same.

Mura Masa ft. Nao – Complicated

This was the latest song I added to my playlist which says a lot. Mura Masa is a genius and his music has been a big source of inspiration to me the last couple of years.
