Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi! I’m a singer-songwriter originally from the Chicago area, now living in Los Angeles! I’ve always had a love for music. Some of my biggest music inspirations currently are Halsey, Bishop Briggs and Banks, among many other artists. I started off my music career writing songs for a small record label. I realized that not only did I love writing music but I also loved performing. This is when I decided to pursue my dream of being an artist full force. Performing a song that you wrote, and hearing it come to life is a very surreal feeling.
Releasing songs can make you feel very vulnerable, since a lot of the times song lyrics are based off of very personal experiences. But vulnerability is what makes you stronger, and in turn makes you a better artist. There is no better feeling than looking into a crowd and seeing them enjoying something you’ve created. I am very lucky to have the support from so many friends and family members that encourage me to just be who I am and do what I love. And in this process if I am able to impact even just one person with my music, then this is all worth it.
Where did the new single come from?
Sometimes in this industry you’re going to experience people who want to turn you into something that you’re not and that is what this song is about. When I was writing this song, I was working with some people who were really great at pushing me and helping me to get my career started but they were also making me unhappy because they were changing me into a person I didn’t want to become. So I was battling with putting a smile on my face and doing what they wanted for a long time.
I was, so to speak, their “Baby Doll”. Until I realized that that’s not what I wanted and this isn’t how it has to be. I should be enjoying every minute of this ride and doing it because it’s what I love and it should be making me happy, not anyone else. This song was a reminder that I needed to stay true to myself. I have since moved on from that situation and will always remember that I never want to lose myself in this journey. I need to fully and unapologetically be me always and so should everyone else.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Yes absolutely! I am currently working on my EP right now that I am hoping to release soon. I have been in and out of studios constantly making new magic.
What’s on the horizon for you?
This is only the beginning. I have never been more focused on my music than I am now. I have been working as hard as I can to make new music and put myself out there. I am hoping to collaborate more with different artists, and work with many different producers. In the mean time, I’ll be performing around venues throughout LA. I am very excited to see what the future has in store for me!
