Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.
We’re a 4 piece alternative pop group from Utah, US made up of Steve and Eric Michels (Drums and Vocals), Seth Dunshee (Bass), and Jonny Tanner (Guitar). We’ve been a band for just about 3 years now, since July 2014. We all love different types of music personally, but as a group we’re inspired by Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, and Pop. Our sound (especially with our newer music) is gravitating towards a pretty solid and random blend of those genres. We love playing Mario Kart and Super Smash bros when we can, spending time with our families, and enjoying the day to day of life.
Where did the new single come from?
Haha, that’s a simple but loaded question. Within our first two years as a band we released a 6 song EP “Come Alive” (2015) and a 12 song album, “Paradigm” (2016). We were just writing the first thing that came to us, and quickly producing it ourselves in Jonny’s apartment. We hadn’t ever really come together to focus on writing and production. Early this year we decided to really figure out what kind of music we want to make. We started writing differently, allowing each band member to write whatever they wanted, whatever inspirations came to them. This was a fresh change of just focusing on our personal instruments. We decided to hire a producer, Caleb Loveless, and we started taking our time creating music that we feel much more connected to.
Is there more content in the pipeline?
Absolutely. After nearly a year and three months without new original music, we have a lot of new music prepared for 2017 and 2018. “Cold War” is the first of many singles to be released. Between single releases, touring, and music videos, we will have a lot of consistent content out this year and next year. We’re also toying with the idea of recording and releasing an EP of some of our favorite covers we’ve played live. We’ll see.
What’s on the horizon for you?
Keep working hard, becoming a better songwriting, performing, musical, and entertaining group. Our fans mean a lot to us. We’re at a point where we are beginning to get some national attention outside of our regional market, and we want to make sure to always have consistent, quality content for our fans to enjoy.
