Chatterbox: FARR

Hey, tell us a bit about yourself.

Roméo: We’re FARR. Well, when we’re together…Linden and I met last year in London in a session that was booked for for us through mutual connections. I’m based out in LA, though, so since then we’ve done most of our writing via excessive Whatsapp Voice Notes and Messages, but obviously we get in the studio together as much as possible from either side of the ocean. Both of us are musicians to start and grew up listening to a lot of soul music – Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, D’Angelo, Sly & The Family Stone – so our music is pretty heavily influenced by that world of music.

Where did the new single come from?

Linden Jay: We actually wrote “Down” in that first day of working with each other. The first thing I did was put down the chords on my friend’s Juno, and then we started building melodies and extra production. It all came together pretty casually that day, and then over a few months we pieced together the final parts. Production wise, I’m always striving to do the polar opposite of what you’d expect to happen on a chorus whilst still keeping it satisfying. We’re trying to turn some heads!

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Roméo: Yes! We’re putting out another single next month called “Blades” which we’re pretty excited about, and then another after that. We’ve also been writing and recording tons of new music.

What’s on the horizon for you?

Linden: It’s still early days, I think, for us. We’re just happy to be putting out music that we are behind, and it’s been a really fluid process so far. I’d say lots of new music, videos and some live shows – that’s gonna be the best part.
