Chatterbox: Bela Pierce

Hey Bela, tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a local artist from Lakeland, FL and am a student here studying Music Business. Music has always been a huge part of my life, but I never acted upon my desire to be an artist or took it seriously until this past year. No one in my family does music, so I am sort of the black sheep creating out of nothing, having no particular influence to grow up around. In college thankfully, I met some really talented and creative friends who helped make this song + piece come to life.

How did the single come about?

I wrote it in sort of a dark season of life. Had a bad relationship experience + was really just trying to figure myself out and grow. I’m a deep feeler, so I tend to write down my emotions a lot, and this one started off as a poem. One night i was in my room & pulled out my guitar and came up with a melody to it, and it just worked. Focusing on the production aspect of the song, the lyrical depth is sort of disguised; but once you strip away the good vibes and really listen to the words, I hope listeners can feel and sense the vulnerability expressed and share that sense of freedom with me.

What’s on the horizon for you?

This is my first single release as a solo artist; a 4-5 song EP is in the works. Plans are to release it by beginning or mid august with another single or two coming out leading up to then.
