Singer-songwriter Ruut returns with the quietly powerful ‘Unbeatable’

Baltimore-based artist Ruut’s unique musical style is rooted in the different countries, cultures and genres she has been exposed to through her varied life thus far. From writing songs and playing piano as a child in Finland, to escaping into American music while living in Budapest, to moving to the States and singing gospel in church; all of these disparate pieces have come together to form an ever-evolving musician. Her newest release ‘Unbeatable’ is not only a continuation of a life-long fascination with songwriting, but it also marks a long-awaited return since the release of her sophomore album, Soliloquy, back in 2020.

Co-produced with Grant Cornish and mastered by Blake Morgan, ‘Unbeatable’ is a beautifully serene single that celebrates the power of quietly determined resilience. The simple-yet-direct repetition of “unbeatable” becomes a one-word mantra that drifts over the hushed pop melodies, measured percussion and delicate piano motifs. The real focus point of this track has to be Ruut’s soulful voice, which is a soothing, controlled presence throughout. ‘Unbeatable’ is a tranquil anthem that leans into compassion, softness and self-acceptance. We very much hope to hear more from Ruut soon.

“The meaning of this song has evolved for me, as I’ve evolved. I used to imagine the warrior as a mythical symbol of constant strength and courage. Now, I know the real warriors in my life are the ones who make room for vulnerability, authenticity, and softness.”
